Hello Margaret, It is great to talk to you. As near as I know now, the Walkers you mentioned are not related to mine. I seem to be related to a Samuel Walker and his brother, Joseph Walker, who were actually in Botetourt Co., VA. These Walkers are of the one's from Walker's Creek in Rockbridge Co., VA. Descendants of John Walker and Katherine Rutherford from Wigtown, Galloway, Scotland. Do you know who your David Walker belongs to?
As for the Reads, I have the will of John Read, which I posted on here or the Read Family Forum. I believe it was one of his sons, William, who went to North Carolina and was the Clerk of the Court there in Rockingham Co.My William Simpson and his wife, Elizabeth Read went to Rockingham after he sold his land in Campbell Co., 1780.
We don't see him again until 1809, when he appears again in Mercer Co., KY and marries Mary (Polly)Davis, dau. of John Davis. His son, George Butler Simpson also comes with him to Mercer and marries Helen McGee. George and Helen remove to Ohio, where they take up land, probably some bounty land.
These Reads are interesting in that like my Simpsons, they moved all over the frontier. I find them first in PA.
Do e-mail me, Margaret, when you get a chance.
