Hello Wayne,

I am related to Mary Wolfe Rainey and Rufus Rainey and family. Rufus Jr. was my cousin, Mary and Rufus Sr. were my great Aunt and great Uncle.

Rufus Sr. left Mecklenberg County after Aunt Mary's death, leaving Rufus Jr. living with my great grand-parents George and Nancy Wolfe.

Rufus Sr evidently moved to Buckingham County. No one in my family knew what happened to him and have no idea if he was a deputy or sheriff of Dillwyn.

But....he is buried next to Harold Rainey in Dillwyn Town Cemetery. He passed away Feb 19, 1960.

After I found your message questioning if he was buried there, I searched the Tombstone Project for that cemetery, I found his headstone listed under town cemetery.

You helped me in filling in unanswered questioned about him.

By the way, who is Harold's parents? Were they Rufus Jr and Ruth Wiley Rainey? Or did Rufus Sr remarry and have other children?

Hope I helped some with the info on Rufus Sr and his location of burial.

Take Care
