Moberly - in Buckingham County?
Posted by: Sarah Nesbeitt Date: December 24, 1999 at 09:00:03

I'm searching for the birthplace of my g-g-g-g-grandfather, John Mavis, whose obituary stated he was born in Moberly, Virginia, in 1826. He died in Harlan, Iowa.

Where is Moberly? I can't find it on any gazetteer. A friend had asked around and had come across the information that Moberly was in Buckingham County, but I've looked at maps and cannot find it. Can anyone living in Buckingham County confirm (or deny) that it's there?

Thanks!
