Brown aka Ripley of Buckingham Va

I am in hopes that some one out there can help me with this family. The one problem that I have is that in some of the census info the family changed their last name at a whim it seams from Brown to Ripley. The head of the family that I have so far is William Brown/Ripley born about 1835. In the 1860 census he is listed with the last name of Ripley. He is married to a Nancy E.(maiden name unknown at this time). Nancy E. was born about 1840. They have living with them in the household the following children Eliza (7 yrs.) and George(2 yrs.). The family is living in Buckingham Va. In District #2. William and Nancy had one more child born in about 1864 and her name is Betty L. Brown. I am the 2nd great granddaughter of Eliza Brown. Eliza had my great grandfather and a sister, I think out of wedlock, and then Married William Wiley Staton. My Great grandfather is Thomas Henry Brown and he was born in Buckingham Co. on March 31,1874. William Brown was dead or gone in the 1870 census. Nancy is listed with her children. She is listed as a Brown. Family oral history tells me that Nancy is supposed to be Indain. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I have lots to share on Thomas Henry Brown's descendants. I would love to share. Please email me at .
