The name of the book is: "Hobson's Chapel" author, Agnes Evans Gish, printed by Gibson Press, Richmond VA, 1997.
I had Ms. Gish email address and have misplaced it. However my cousin is checking that for me and I will post it here as soon as I have it.
In the index of the book I see:
1. P.05: "We rode through Goochland, crossing James River at Cartersville".
There are many references to the place known as "Cartersville". The Hobsons had at least 4 marriages within the Carter family.
From the Index:
CARTER, Winnefore HOBSON
Page 59: "A town like Cartersville, situated on the main crossing place of James River, entertained travellers going to the Carolinas as well as to northern destinations. Felixville, on the other hand, entertained only those who travelled the "back" roads, mainly drovers and local travellers to and from Prince Edward or Buckingham Counties."
Other HOBSON - CARTER marriages:
Winneford HOBSON m. Thomas CARTER, (deed of 1784 both above of Cumberland Co, VA)(book)
Theodorick CARTER m 1792 to Frances HOBSON
Henrico Co, VA
William CARTER m 1794 to Betsey HOBSON
Henrico Co, VA
Theodrick CARTER b1676c m. Elizabeth Randolph WEBB
The Hobsons were connected by marriage to CARTER, WEBB, VAUGHN, CHILDRESS, HATCHER and many old families of early VA.
As soon as I have the information for Ms Gish, author of the "Hobson's Chapel" I will let you know. Feel free to ask any questions you might have.
