WILLIAM TALLEY who was born about 1775 "near Richmond, VA", married REBECCA BRIGGS, who was also born in VA. They were married on November 2, 1799 in Brunswick Co., VA. I emphasised "near Richmond" because in an article about one of his sons, it was so stated. But was it Richmond Co., or city of Richmond? I do know that this SAME biography failed to mention that the person who was being written about had been married previously.
All their children were born in Charlotte Co., VA, and by about 1840, a great many of their extended family had moved to Tipton Co., TN. William and Rebecca died in Tipton Co., TN.
Their children included: ELIZABETH who married Manley FORD, MARTHA who married Williamson ROSS, JOHN PETER who married Jedidah M. SAUNDERS, WILLIAM H. who married Sarah, REBECCA who married Charles William FALLEN, JOSEPH S. who married Caroline Lucinda WESSEN, SARAH ELLINGTON who married Charles William FALLEN, JAMES GEORGE, EDWARD F. who married 1st UNKNOWN 2nd Lucy Ann Francis BIBB, and ARIANNA PERNETT who married Milton Jackson BALLARD.
WHY did this couple get married in Brunswick Co.? Is this the county that REBECCA BRIGGS was from? Or maybe WILLIAM TALLEY was from there. I heard that is was normally the "Brides" county of residence that the couple had to be married in.
I would appreciate any help with this couple.
