Mason, Hancock, James and House Families

Perhaps there are other surnames who moved to Rutherford Co. Tn and were with the Mason, Hancock, James and House families formerly of Brunswick Co.

I've been able to locate documents for the Masons but not when they either moved on or died in Rutherford Co.:

James Mason, wife Polly Hancock, married 23 May 1808 Brunswick Co. VA and moved around 1816 to Rutherford Co. Polly Hancock's brother Benjamin Hancock married Martha James and her sister Martha Patsy Hancock married John James.

James Mason is shown in Rutherford County documents with the Hancocks through 1826/27 and then nothing further.

This James Mason was not related to the Rynear Mason line you also see in Rutherford Co.

James Mason was directly related to the Henry Hartwell Marable family of Sussex Co. who also moved to Rutherford. Henry Marable's wife was Elizabeth Mason dau. of Isaac Mason (deceased just months before Elizabeth's birth) and Ann Pettway. Whereas, James Mason was a son of Christopher Jr. and wife Martha Mason. Christopher Mason Sr. (wife Sarah Chappell) was a brother to Isaac Mason father of Elizabeth Mason Marable.

If anyone might have further for this James and Polly Mason please contact me. I will be happy to exchange source documents.

Carolyn Mason Anderson
