Hi Dan,

That puzzling excerpt ended up being from a Brunswick Co. deed book. They clerk at the courthouse was unable to copy pages from the large bound book, so they had me contact the count library to get a copy off the microfiche. I've been waiting a long time for it to arrive.

There is no recorded will for ANY Samuel Steagall/Stegall from the early 1700s through 1850s in Brunswich Co., VA.

I have asked the county clerk to check the marriage index to see if there has been any marriages for ANY Samuel Steagall/Stegall to any women during the 1700s in Brunswick Co, VA. This is my second request, but I'm still waiting for the reply.

If there ends up being no marriage license/bond in Brunswick Co, I'll have to decide where to send off to next--maybe Amelia Co, Va or Halifax or Warren Cos, NC. There was a Samuel Stegall in Halifax Co, NC in the 1790 census, and several of Samuel's grandchildren were born in Halifax.

Haven't found out anything new about the Prichetts yet but haven't been working on them.

Do you know if David Pinkard Stegall is really Drinkard or is he, as written in the IGI, actually David Pinkard Steagall? He is part of your line, over by Franklin Co.and that area. Well, that is part of my family also, just not my line of grandparents.

So, it's the waiting game still. If I find out anything I think you'd be interested in, I will post you.
