Charles; I've investigated my Snodgrass lines back to Alexander, who lived along Catawba Creek. It is adjacent to the James River, and I've driven there to look around. It is off Highway 220, near Fincastle. On a detailed map you will find that Catawba creek passes Highway 220, and proceeds to a place called Sallisbury. Alexander Snodgrass' property was located "along Catawba Cree, near where it joins the James River". I couldn't find anything in the region that indicated just where his place was exactly located. Hope this helps some.
