Ford/Hopkins/Tipton

I know this is a long-shot, but I've searched EVERYWHERE for a connection to my Ford family, and thought perhaps I'd give Botetourt CO a try. The records would be very old, since my family records that are now accessible are in East Tennessee and Western North Carolina. Since Botetourt was once the frontier and so very large, I'm thinking they may have registered something. Here's what I have, very briefly:
gr gr gr grandfather: John Tipton Ford b. abt 1770, m. Anne(Annie,Anna)McMullin(McMullen, McMillen)their deeds and his will are in Haywood CO, NC
gr gr grandfather: Benjamin Jackson Ford
gr grandfather: Ruben T. Ford
grandfather: Benjamin Parker Ford
father: Ruben Leonard Ford
We have tried to find a connection to the Tipton family to our Ford's, since the naming patterns seem to indicate they named children for other people. John Tipton Ford, the elder, had a son named Tipton. JTF's son, Benjamin Jackson Ford had a son named John Tipton Ford. We have found SPECULATION that these families came from Virginia.
Any help appreciated.
