I am descended from a John R. Humphries born abt 1804-1805 in Virginia. This according to the 1850 Census from Kanawha County where he and his family were living at the time.

I am looking for John's parents and family. William Humphries, son of John and Margaret, had a son named John R. whose birth year would fit right in with the rest of William's children. Information on this John R. is sketchy. Have you ever run across any information on this John R. other than he may have married Isabell and moved to Ohio in 1830?

My John R. Humphries was born abt 1804-05. He married Mary "Polly" Coleman abt 1835. This could have been a second marriage for him given his age. John and Polly were living in Kanawha Co, (W)Va in 1850. I have heard they lived in Meigs Co, OH for a time, but were living in Mason Co, WV in the 1860 census. John R. Humphries died in Hartford City, Mason Co, WV in 1867 aged 62.

There are certain things that make this look like the right family for John R, but I can't find any definite proof. I'd love to know if you have ever seen anything that might help.
Thank you,
Dale Nicoll
