Can someone help me with two things. First the deciphering of the 1810 census, I found the census on the vagenweb. The url is ftp://ftp.rootsweb.com/pub/usgenweb/va/botetourt/census/1810/pg633-667.txt I found two people I am possibly related to my gggggrandmother Rebecca Vadergraft and a Thos Vandergraft. If I read the census right Rebecca has two males 16-26 and a female 45>. I would assume that it would be herself and two sons ( possily my gggggrandfather John and his brother Thomas). Now here is the tricky part, there is also a thomas Vandergraft also listed. That thomas has a male 16-26 and a female 16-26 in the house hold. Would the census taker have listed Thomas separate if he lived at his mother house and had a bride? and would he still be included in his mothers family. The second thing is that, does anyone have the 1820 or access to it. I was wandering if these two people show up again or if there is a listing for John Vandegrift. The Vandergrift names has various spellings in my family. Vandergrift, Vandegrift Vandergraft, Vandegraft ect...... Thanks Ruth Vandergrift Bedwell Rbed105619@aol.com
