Looney Creek runs between present day Interstate 81 and old U.S. Route 11, for a few miles, just prior to the I81 exit to Buchanan, VA (looking left as you travel north on 81). It runs behind a large white mansion known in Botetourt County as Lauderdale. My family used to own Lauderdale and my Dad used to tell me when he used to swim in the creek. The tree limb he used to jump off of is still there today.
The creek's total length is from just east of route 640, past LIthia and running towards Buchanan, VA.
