U.S. States: Virginia: Botetourt County
John Edwin Noffsinger (1796-bef. 1850)married Susannah Gish in Botetourt. Their children were Peter (m. Hannah Va. Huff), John, Nancy, Sally, Mary & Elizabeth. All were born between 1816 & 1832. Mary married William Stover, children John and Sarah. Eliz married James Hamilton.
The only other John in your time frame is this son John, who was born in 1821 and I don't have a wife's name or children.
There IS a Jacob Waggoner showing in the Botetourt census of 1810,20,40 & 50 (& Augusta in 1830)and I find a marriage to Mary Nofsinger April 1, 1839, but I can't find who the Mary belongs to.
A John Noftzinger owned land next to Jacob Gish on Tinker Creek in 1784. Remember, in that time period Botetourt County was huge, covering what is now All of SW VA, the southern half of W. Va, Kentucky, Indiana and Illinois. The two best books to track down what you are looking for are A Seed-Bed of the Republic (Early Botetourt) by Robert Douthat Stoner (1962)and Related Families of Botetourt County, Virginia by J. William and Rebecca Austin (1977). The latter book has TONS of info on the Noffsingers and quite a bit on the Gish family in Botetourt too. Hope this helps.
