seeking elusive Evans ancestor

Does anyone have record of a Stokely Evans being in the Co. in the late 1790s/early 1800s? He is said to have married Fetna Davidson, daughter of Alexander Davidson of Fentress Co. Tn. The pair produced three sons, twins Alexander and Floyd (abt.1825/26), and Stokely Jr. ---at least, he is presumed to be Jr. All three sons married and produced families in Fentress Co. Tn. Son Alec is known to have ridden with Champ Ferguson. Descendants have hit the brick wall on Stokely Sr. Was he in VA before TN? Apparently he died around 1828, but where? We seek him here, we seek him there.... All hints appreciated!
