One further thought. You might ask at the historical and/or genealogical societies if they know what happened to family burial grounds around Springfield, when the highway went in. Maybe the remains were moved to another location. You might ask at those groups in both Rockbridge and Botetourt Co. Or at county offices, although I wouldn't know which ones.

If you find out anything about this, please post it here. I am also seeking a family burial ground in that area, for the Pettycrews. Thanks.
