Bill, I tried to reach Ron Baker regarding his research last year but no response so I think you're right, he is no longer out there on message boards.
Your grandson of Martha Baker and William Davidson caught my eye, your Capt. Greenlee Davidson. I know there were Greelees in Botetourt County during the late 1700's and early 1800s. My Caleb C. Baker was married first to who we believe was Jane Hannan, a daughter of Esom Hannan of Botetourt County, Va and Mary Mollie Greenlee who are buried in Greenwood Cemetery in Roanoke County VA(used to be Botetourt) on their estate land called “Cave Spring”. Esom Hannan was also in the Revolutionary War and his grave was dedicated in November of 1938 by the Margaret Lynes Lewis Chapter of DAR.(The Daughters of American Revolution) at which time a family historian, Immogene Hannan Brown, said that Esom was born in Old Frederick County, VA in 1752.
I also believe I had come across your Rev. Andrew Baker Davidson signing something in the past I was looking at because I remember thinking that man has got to be related.
Thank you so much for this further information on the Davidsons. It does seem to be true that in the confusion of so many Davidsons the only way to sort it out is DNA from our perspective many years later. I know we had old family letters that claimed our Caleb C. Baker was the son of Glover Baker but couldn't prove it for sure until our family Baker DNA tests matched descendants of Glover's brothers.
