Hello Jan, Just returned from a research trip to Botetourt County, VA looking for leads concerning Moses Baker, my great-grandfather. He was born there is 1846 according to his obituary. After the Civil War, Moses moved to Gallia County, Ohio were he married, lived, & died. I saw your name in connection with Caleb Baker while at the court house. I'm hoping that Caleb Baker might have been an uncle to Moses. Moses' father was named Samuel & his mother Anna. It's weird that in marriage records, Caleb married Lucy Cooper in October of 1821. Then it is recorded that Caleb Baker married Polly Bare on Sept. 21, 1822. Are these 2 different Calebs?? The ladies at the court house were puzzled. They thought Lucy must have died soon after the marriage. One of these Caleb Bakers died in Fincastle, VA. We visited his grave at the Presbyterian Church cemetery. He died on 27 May 1835 at the age of 52. I have pictures. Write me & I'll send you the pictures. Lynne Notify Administrator about this message?
