Keith, I am interested in this Ayers family that you mention as being "free people of color". Is this the Ayers family that came from Baltimore Co., MD and settled in Pittsylvania Co., VA ca. 1760? The progenitor was Nathaniel Ayers who d. 1771 in Pittsylvania Co. This is the first mention of the Ayers name that I've seen in connection with "Free People of Color". I've gathered quite a bit of data on this Ayers family which I would be happy to share with you if you are interested. Thanks. KRB
