I have my Croft family traced to Botetourt County Virginia.

Did your John Croft leave children in Botetourt when he traveled West?

My g grandparents, David B. Croft and Carolyn Chaffin Croft were married in Roanoke Co in 1865. He was listed as born in Botetourt and she in Bedford Co. Va.

I think David's family didn't move far, but the county line moved around them. Their records will be in Botetourt though.

David's parents were Daniel Croft and Mary Hamilton of Botetourt Co.
I think Daniel's father was a John Croft. There are several Johns in the family including my brother, John.
I know Mary's father was a John Hamilton living in Botetourt, but I suspect he came from the Penn. area.

Do you have any more info that might suggest a linkage?
