William Scally - Fincastle County - American Revolution
Posted by: Freida McAninch (ID *****5535) Date: August 03, 2007 at 19:30:27
  of 1164

My ancestor, William Scally, came to Spotsylvania County VA 1769-70 as an indentured servant of Fielding Lewis, brother-in-law of George Washington, but records show William Scally to have served in the company of Capt. William Campbell of Fincastle County in 1774. He moved on and eventually settled in Davidson County TN where he was awarded a pension in 1819, at the age of 70, for his service. This would have made him approximately 25 years old in 1774. I have no information on marriage or children.
If anyone has any information re William Scally or can suggest a resource for information on the history of Fincastle County, I would appreciate it very much.
