Am seeking any family who might have seen this name among their allied families. Frederick HIGHSAW was on Botetourt Tithable lists 1772-1776, then Rockbridge 1777-1778, and in court records through 1779. (Wm. McKee's list, later James Hall's tithables in Rockbridge.) Then he moved to Burke Co., NC, to spend the rest of his life. Frederick HYSAW was closely associated with James HAYES, son of George and Ssrah DYER HAYES EDMISTON..but do not know if it was just in hemp farming or perhaps a relative. An old story says Highsaw was originally HAYSE. A relative, Andrew Haysaw and wife Mary were buying land in 1777 in Augusta Co. and sold to Moses HAYES. Also Henry HYSAW was in Capt. Cunningham's group in Augusta. If anyone runs across this name, 1778 or before, I would appreciate knowing about it. I cannot find any mention of them before 1772 anywhere. Allied families later: Crockett, Coffey, Thrasher, Israel...Thank you, Susan Hollis, hysaw@msn.
