William Anthony STRICKLAND m. Christiana HART on September 3, 1812 in Rockbridge County, Virginia. They raised their children in Botetourt County, Virginia.
William was the owner of the Rope Walk, operator of the Chalk Bank and a realtor and gave land for the establishment of Fairview Cemetery. The remains of William and Christiana, as well as other descendants and relatives, has not been determined, however, there is an old cemetery high on a hill as one approaches Greyledge. There are many unmarked sunken graves and two marked. One stone reads, "John Strickland 1814-1834" and the other "Mary H., wife of George W. (1816-1846) (my g-g-grandmother-Mary Hester Sweetland-Strickland).
