None of my family was in North Carolina unless it was before 1750. I know of the Burrises that went to Surry Co., NC. I am not aware of yourr ggg-grandmother in Mitchell Co, NC. I know there was a Burroughs /Burris/Burrus family that was on Cape Hatteras in early to mid-1700's. There also was a George Burrus that shows up in 1770's-1780's in Halifax County, VA that I would like to know where he came from.-Halifax County is on the boarder of NC.
