Pleasant B. Baker of Bedford County, VA b abt 1809

  of 1955

I am looking for descendants of Pleasant B. Baker of Bedford County VA. He was born abt 1809 in Bedford County. His parents were Abraham B. Baker who married 25 Apr 1808 Levicy Jane Mccoy Burnett in Bedford County, VA. Abraham then was a son of Samuel Baker Jr. and Mary Hodnett. Samuel Baker Jr. was the older brother of my direct ancestor Glover Baker. Their families lived in Bedford County, VA. They both were sons of Samuel Baker Sr. and Elizabeth Glover of Prince Edward County, VA. My family has definite DNA testing via Glover Baker to the purple group, #4, the Gunsmith Baker group on the Baker DNA site.

Pleasant B. Baker had brothers, Burwell W. (William) Baker, Joshua B. (Brooks) Baker, Brooks Baker and Harvey Baker. Sisters were Sarah Baker Williamson and Janie Lovicy Baker 1822 1894 who married Robert Beard.

I have almost no information on this son Pleasant B. Baker. It is possible he has a son or close relative named Pleasant P. Baker, according to a suit, of Mar 12 1881 Pleasant B.Baker vs. Burwell W. Baker in Bedford County VA. chancery suit in Bedford County VA in 1905, a continuation of a previous suit (suits) it appears called Creditors of B.W. Baker, E.S. Vinyard, NJ Vinyard vs Burwell W. Baker etc in 1905.

In it there is a Pleasant B. Baker receipt from deceased received 6 Aug 1903 of A.K. Baker, (his nephew Abram Kemper Baker?) administrator of Pleasant B. Baker dec.
in full in suit of Pleasant B. Baker vs. Burwell B. Baker in Bedford County Circuit Court. signed by S. Griffin.

This I believe refers to an earlier suit of Mar 12 1881 in Bedford Circuit Court of Pleasant B. Baker vs. his brother Burwell W. Baker judgement for $170.00 of 25 Dec 1873.

There is a further note in the file in which is said: "Received this 8th of August 1893 of S. Griffin, special commissioner of the Circuit Court of Bedford County in the chancery suit of Vingard and Vingard vs. Baker of three hundred and fifty plus forty nine cents in full of the judgment against Pleasant B. Baker, proved in said suit. Signed: by O.C. Rucker atty. for Pleasant P. Baker, Admin.
