Iím trying to find documentation that Thomas Jackson Haile (or Hale) was the son of Mead Hale and Elizabeth (Jackson) Hale.
Elizabeth (Jackson) Hale died between 1833 and 1835 in Bedford County, Tennessee. I donít know if a will for her ever existed.
Mead Hale died in 1850 in Bedford County, Tennessee. His will was destroyed in a courthouse fire. However, the Bedford County Court minutes for November 14, 1850 on page 222 are supposed to have a probate record for him, according to Internet notes Iíve seen. Unfortunately, the contents of these minutes donít seem to have been published anywhere. They may or may not refer to his heirs.
I would be just as happy to have personal property tax records, land transfer records where Thomas is named as son, Bible records, Vestry records, or anything else that establishes parentage. Unfortunately, census records donít help, since records prior to 1850 only list the head of household.
I canít come to Bedford County myself to search for evidence, due to my wifeís health. She has MS (Multiple Sclerosis), and the trip would be too difficult for her. I also couldnít leave her sitting in her wheelchair while I search courthouses or libraries or historical societies.
I would greatly appreciate any assistance you can give me.
Thanks very much.
