Dorothy,

Did you ever figure out whether or not your Arabia Brown is the son of George and Sarah Brown? I've been working on the same theory, based on that same Caldwell KY deed, but haven't found anything yet to prove or disprove it.

I think Sarah may be the daughter of Lynard/Lynah/Linah and Sarah Brown of the Little Otter River area of Bedford. I also suspect that George may have been a brother of Arabia Brown Sr. who moved to Garrard Co., KY. He too had a son born in 1785 named Arabia Jr., who appears to have named one of his sons George.

The 1840 census for Madison Co., MO shows your Arabia Brown living next to a James Brown. This James Brown is the earliest known ancestor of someone who belongs to Group 69 of the Brown Surname DNA Project, the same group to which my Daniel Brown Sr. of Bedford belongs. I tracked James' lineage back to the cluster of Browns living on Little Otter River. His grandparents appear to be the James and Jennet Brown who lived next to Lynard, and who, based on the shared names of several of their children, may have been brothers. Arabia Sr. was then a neighbor, as well.

I think there is a very good chance that your Arabia is related to all of the above people, which would mean, of course, that you and I belong to the same DNA group. I'd really like to compare notes with you and see if we can sort this out.

Justin Sanders.
