I checked my records for the descendants of 1663 (year of death) Peter Wright of Oyster Bay, Long Island, New York, (place of death) and found no marriages to Abshires.
I am unaware of the group discussing Bedford County that you mentioned. Could you tell me where they can be found on the web.
The John Wright you mentioned was 1814 John Wright of Bedford County, Virginia, who married Mary Pace. I checked my records for his descendants and found no marriages to Abshires. 1814 John Wright of Bedford County was a son of John Wright (Goochland County Carpenter) and Judith (Easley) Wright.
There was a John Wright who served in Colonel Lynch's company at the Battle of Guilford Court House, where he was wounded and for which he later received a pension. That John Wright was 1826 John Wright of Bedford County, Virginia, the son of 1814 John Wright of Bedford County, Virginia, and grandson of John Wright (Goochland County Carpenter).

All of the Wright-Abshire marriages that I have in my records are for descendants of 1809 William Wright of Franklin County, Virginia, and his wife Mary (Grant) Wright. Those couples include the following:
1. Teresa or Teacy (Wright) Abshire and her husband Randolph Abshire,
2. Phoebe (Wright) Abshire and her husband Abraham Abshire,
3. George Wright (Stiller) and his wife Susannah (Abshire) Wright,
4. 1896 (year of death) John B. Wright of Franklin County, Virginia, (place of death) and his wife Jemima (Abshire) Wright,
5. 1839 John A. Wright of Franklin County, Virginia, and his wife Elizabeth (Abshire) Wright,
6. Mary (Wright) Abshire and her husband Nelson Abshire,
7. 1843 George Wright of Franklin County, Virginia, and his wife Mary (Abshire) Wright,
8. Charlotte (Wright) Abshire and her husband Ambrose Abshire, and
9. 1871/78 Enoch Wright of Tulare County, California, and his wife Susannah (Abshire) Wright.
