That is kind of a broad question and I cannot answer for all Wright families, since there are so many.
However, there is one Virginia family of which I am aware that had New England roots and that is the family of 1663 (year of death) Peter Wright of Oyster Bay, Long Island, New York, (place of death) who was originally in New England in Massachusetts. One of his descendants was 1793 Peter Wright of Botetourt County, Virginia.
As to the Wright-Abshire connections, I have a Peter Abshire who was the son of Charlotte (Wright) Abshire and Ambrose Abshire, but they resided in Franklin County, Virginia, in the mid-1800's and have no connection to New England of which I am aware.
If you can be more specific regarding which Wright families you are researching, I will be happy to check my records for you to see if I have anything that can help.
