I'm glad you mentioned the related families. That perked my interest. This may lead to nowhere but...
I've been researching a set of DALE's that came from North Farnham Parish, Richmond Co., VA, in about 1766 to Bedford Co., VA. The family I'm following is that of William Dale (Sr.) and Frances (Phillips) Dale. Two Dale brothers (William and Reuben) married two Phillips sisters (Frances and Hannah) in Richmond Co., VA.
William Sr. died in Richmond County in about 1758. Frances (Phillips) Dale apparently brought her family to Bedford Co., VA, about 8 yrs later in 1766. I recently completed a research trip in which I was looking for records (in VA and TN) of four of her children (William 2nd, Elizabeth (m. Gilbert Mason), James, and Richard). My information does not show a Nancy among their children.
In records of this family, Dale is the usual spelling but every variation (Dail, Deal, Deale, Deall) is found, sometimes multiple spellings in the same document!
A big unanswered question I have pondered is "Why would Frances (Phillips) Dale move her family particularly to Bedford Co., VA?" The most logical answer is that she had some family ties (either Dale or Phillips) in that county, either relatives who preceded her to the county or who travelled with her to settle there.
So basically, I have nothing to offer on your question, but the association of another Deal and a Phillips in Bedford Co., VA, in that time frame is of note to me! In a few days, I will be posting some detailed information on these Dale's on the Dale GenForum. Watch for that.
