Obituary from the Danville Register & Bee, Dated March 2, 1997

Winnie P Peeler, 102, died Saturday Morning, March 1, 1997, in Roman Eagle Memorial Home where she had lived for five years.

Born Oct 21,1894, in Moneta, VA she was the daughter of John P Lynch and Mary Wintworth Lynch.

She spent most of her life in Danville, where she worked at Dan Rivers Mills.

She was a charter member of Sledd Memorial United Methodist Church, which is now known as St. Luke's United Methodist Church, and where she was honored with a plaque for her years of faithful dedication. She served as treasure of the Ladie's Bible Class for many years.

She was preceded in death by two sons, Major Clifford Noel Peeler and John C (Clifford ?) Peeler Survivors include a daughter Victoria Townsend, grandchildren Great-grandchildren was the last member of her generation. (Note:) John was born 1913 and Clifford was born 1918 so Victoria must have been born between 1913 and 1918 as Clifford Noel died Oct. 1918. Need to check the 1920 Census of Clarke County, GA or Pittsylavnia County, VA. (Census for Danville, Pittsylavnia County 1920 is below)

A funeral will be conducted 2 p.m. Monday from Baker Funeral Home by the Rev. Ronald W Mateer. Interment will be in Highland Buriel Park.

The family will be at the daughters residence, 123 North Avenue, (Danville, VA 24540)

(My Note) Winnie was my grand aunt. Her husband Clifford Noel Peeler died in Athens, Clarke County, GA 24 October 1918 and to my knowledge Winnie did not remarry. I have a photo of her and she was a very beautiful lady
