Fuqua/Woodward/Shaffer

I am starting here because it seems that this was the Fuqua family "nest". I am looking for a connection (possibly only a great friendship, or pastor, etc.) between the Fuqua, Woodward and/or Shaffer families.

My Great Great Grandfather, John Gilbert Woodward was born 1814 in NY. Next we hear of him is in 1841 in Wilkerson Co., Mississippi where he married Mary Ann Shaffer. We know nothing of her previous life except per the 1850 TX census, shows she was born in LA. Anyway, they named their first born Montcalen Fuqua Woodward. He was born in Oct. 1841 in Woodville, MS.

With this little tidbit of info, I hope to track John's travels from his birthplace in NY to MS. There is quite a span of time from 1814 to 1841 that is undocumented. (An Internet "friend" provided a marriage look-up for John & Mary Ann, which spelled his last name Woodard.)

Any help will be appreciated.
