I am also researching the Dooleys; spent the afternoon in the library looking at Bedford Cty, VA books; thought I might be on the right track

My info came from "Va. Taxpayers, 1782-87", other than those published by US Census Bureau, shows most Dooleys in Bedford Cty, so I checked all the marriage bonds, wills, etc. that were in my library (Cobb Cty, GA). My information was Thomas was the first known Dooley, his son was James (b. 1797, moved to GA about 1823-29).

I thought I was making progress; but when I came home and checked other info (not sure of source), this stated that Thomas Dooley had married Lucy Webb in Halifax Cty, 1779, or Henry (Henrico ?)in 1799. Curious, since James was born in 1797.

I think the James, father Thomas is correct, because the second son was named Thomas (first son named Josiah, traditionally for wife's father).

After all the explanation, do you have any facts that the line of Thomas in Bedford had my James?... Thanks.. Pat
