In Reply to: BAKER (BECKER), UTZ, SUMMERS (SOMERS), and VENIS Families in the Shenandoah Vall by JOHN OTT of 1702

John, my paternal gg grandmother was Sarah (Sallie)Becker, who was born in Va,1798. She was married to Benjamin Richard Craft,Sr, and lived in Botetourt Co until it was divided to form Craig and Alleghany Counties. She died in Craig Co. 22June1860. Sallie and Benjamin had 10 children. He was a farmer, and he and their adult son, Jacob were also part-time "dentists". Jacob married Phebe (Phoebe)Persinger, daughter of Sarah Persinger and Joseph Sparrowhawk, a documented member of the Cherokee Nation. Benjamin and Jacob were also involved in the practice of breeding and fighting gamecocks.

I have been unable to trace Sallie's parents. If you have any info about her you'd be willing to share, I'd really appreciate it.

Good luck with your research and book!
