On the 1880 Census in South Side and in Clover Hill townships, Appomattox County, Virginia, I have finally found several families who have names that appeared later in the children and descendants of the Josephine Fore and Lacy Marshall marriage. Nathan; Winfred; Charles; Eugene, Julian and David are predominant.
However,I can't tie them together. The names I was most interested in are:
Milton L. Fore age 60; wife Elizabeth W. age 44 VA Clover Hill, Appomattox County, VA; page 363D
Henry W. Marshall age 54; wife Sarah age 51 VA South Side, Appomattox, VA page 366B
There are young men living around each of these households, that are surely sons, or nephews. I just don't have enough to go on, to connect the families I am researching, when a Fore and a Marshall married in the time period of 1918-1919. The family I did talk to, said they believed both the Fore and Marshall families lived south of Appomattox, Appomattox County, VA, they thought on the Red House Road. Does the road name mean anything to researchers who are familiar with the area?
If you have any Marshall or Fore ancestors who came from the area, please get in touch. Any, I am not excluding Quadroon or Mulatto. I desparately want to finish this history while I can do so. I think in an earlier message, I mentioned that I am researching the ancestors of my granddaughter.
1880 Census Clover Hill, Appomattox, Virginia pg 321D There lived a man:
Nicholas Morris 1 Self M Male W 33 VA Farmer VA VA and his wife, Mary F. Morris. They had a son William Thomas Morris, born 1874 VA. It is possible this William was the father of Leonard Hudson Morris, whose daughter married a son of one of the Marshall's. Some of the children of Leonard are still alive, so I can't be more specific.
