You probably have the answers you sought by this date. However, I just happened upon this posting. Re Wood/Woods, a Rev. Edgar Woods recorded early marriages, including many for those of this surname. I can't recall if the book is called "Early Marriages of Charlottesville, Virginia," or "Early Marriages of Albemarle County, Virginia," by Rev. Edgar Woods. If you've not seen it, you might check your local genealogical library or to see if a copy is available.
