Hi, I saw that no one was of any help on your Goins request, but my family (Woodruff, Ware, Pannill's) were all from Amherst, so I know a little bit about it. The name goins is a big Melungeon name, if you have never heard of them there is a web site, but Melungeons are to be tri-recial ie: Black, Native American and White decent, some say Portugese. If you know for sure that they are from Amherst Co, try contacting Jones Memorial Library, but you can also try Wise County Va. there are a lot of Goins there. Hope this helps. Vickie
