My cousin and I have a very fruitful trip to Amelia Co. and several southside VA counties.

I agree that the Amelia Co. Colonial tithes lists are a treasure of information, as are the VA Personal Property Tax Lists, which began in 1782 and are available on microfilm for most VA counties. The microfilm may be ordered from the LDS and placed on loan at Family History Centers for a reasonable fee. I have used them extensively for many VA families. The loan period can be extended for an additional fee and placed on indefinite loan for yet another fee. I have done that for a few counties where I have multiple families to research.

More recently I have subscribed to the Binns Genealogy website, which has the microfilm images online. They do not have all of the counties available that are available through the LDS (Patrick Co., VA is one), but they do have the Amelia Co. colonial tithes lists as well as the Personal Property Tax Lists, and they have many other counties--certainly enough for me to justify the annual membership, which is $40(?) or something like that. Given that I am a 40 minute drive from the nearest Family History Center, which has very limited hours at times that are not convenient for me, the Binns website is a big bargain.
