Posted by: Norma Lundgren (ID *****9197) Date: August 13, 2007 at 19:52:31
  of 776

Copies of Thomas Atkinson's Day/Account Book are at the University of Virginia archives, under "Personal Papers" in the archives reading room (42 pages) Call number 32701. Also on-line under Bible Records. (3 pages) Call number 32706. The photocopies of the pages were given to the library by Paul Smith in 1985. The orig. is in the Mississippi State Dept of History and Archives, in Jackson, MS. When I contacted them, they could not find the Day/Account Book of Thomas Atkinson. I provided them with all of the information that I had on the three pages including all names, but no matter the reference, they couldn't identify it. As of now, there are photocopies of the whole book at the Library of Virginia.

On 25 October 1787 the Amelia County clerk recorded that the "the Overseers of the Poor, District 3, Amelia County" had apprenticed Raynes to Benjamin Overton, "a leather britches tailor."

I ordered these 42 pages. On one page, Thomas wrote: "Thomas Atkinson took Henry Atkinson January the 2 day in the year 1755." The rest of the page says:
