Fay, Thanks for your reply. We suspect that Abraham is the same man as the packman to the Cherokee Nation, but we haven't been able to prove anything yet. Later on the Abraham you mentioned on Saylor's creek went further west and settled in Charlotte County. He died there and his will names his children. Two of his sons were John and William Vaughan. I suspect that my ancestors, John Vaughan who married Nancy Callicott and William Vaughan who married Fereby Benton are these two sons. A son of John, James, and a daughter of William, Martha, married and so I am descended from both branches. We haven't been able to prove that John and William were brothers, and that their father was Abraham Vaughan of Charlotte County, VA, but that is how I'm leaning.
