There is a 'Patrick' Farley on the Roster of the 20th Virginia Infantry:

Co. D, Enl. on 8/28/61 in Richmond, Virginia. Taken POW at Rich Mountain, (now W.Va.,) on 7/11/61, paroled on 7/17/61 in Randolph Co., age 19, native res. of Powhatan Co., light comp., red hair, dark eyes. Discharged on 9/23/61. On a roll of exchanged prisoners turned over to Capt. Jones 10/10/62.

Since, Powhatan joins Amelia Co., Va., at the Appomattox River, these Farley soldiers may be the same/or connected.

On the day Farley was captured at Rich Mountain, Capt. William Murray Skipwith, C. S. A., was killed in the same battle. He was later buried at Grace Episcopal Church in Powhatan. Both soldiers have Amelia and Powhatan family members.
