Robert Jones

My ancestor Robert Jones was in Georgia at lest by 1788 when his son Jesse was born. He was later in Clarke Co, GA (which did not exist in 1788). Jesse named a son born in Clarke Co. in 1828 Harrison.

I know that a Revolutionary soldier named Harrison Jones lived in Amelia Co. in 1781 (or thereabouts). I cannot confirm a relationship between that Harrison Jones (who also migrated to GA before finally going to MS where he died) and my Robert - Jesse - Harrison line.

Has anyone seen records of a Robert Jones being in Amelia Co. prior to 1788? I would appreciate any help.
