Nicholas Darwin and Elizabeth Jones

Dear Researchers;
I have long been intrigued by an entry in a book by Elizabeth Butley, ' Virginia Marriage Records' (published 1982 in Baltimore), under the heading 'Amelia County Marriage Bonds 1735-1755.' The entry runs:

"Nicholas Darwin and Elizabeth Jones. July 16th 1739. Signed by Jno Jones as security"

I have found no further trace of this Nicholas Darwin, leave alone been able to connect him to the family of William Darwin of Louisa County VA, and have often thought this was a transcription error. But who knows? Anyone with any info or thoughts on this, would be most appreciated!
