I think the key to the name Dudley might be with the Holt family. I have a William Holt will from Charlotte Co., nearby, dated 1790 which names sons Dudley and Woodley and three daughters named Jones: Mary Elizabeth and Amy. From a published tax list in 1787 in Charlotte Co., I see that William Holt lived next to Godfrey Sr, Godfrey Jr, Cadwallader and Richard Jones. Maybe his three daughters married the boys next door and one named her child after her brother Dudley. I hope this helps.
