Our Russell, Philip and wife Elizabeth Stewart Russell went to Montgomery Co.,TN in 1797 with one child, Martha "Patsey" b 1792. We are pretty certain that they didn't travel there alone, and there were some Stewarts, and Russells there at various times. Philip was one of it looks like 8-9 children according to the taxlists of Pittsylvania Co., so there were definately brothers (& sisters)that could have come to TN also.
Check out the free trial with Ancestry.com and look at the census indexes for the counties you are interested in...I believe they are still offering a free trial? Give it a try.
