Alleghany County was formed in 1822 from Monroe Co., VA now West Virginia, Botetourt County, Va and Bath County, Va. I would check in Botetourt and Monroe to see if you find any records there.

I am originally from Alleghany County and most of my ancestors were from there. You may want to check out the Alleghany Highlands Genealogical Soceity at 1011 North Rockbridge Ave. Covington, Virginia 24426. They have an extensive collection of private research. Since it is a non-profit orginization they are eager to help you with your Stone research and have other interested reseachers that will respond to your query. Hope you find your ancestor and can share your info with them!
