I recently found that my GGgrandfather James D. Morrison b. 9 Aug 1816 was born in Culpeper Co. Va. On the 1810 Culpeper Co. Census there are 5 Morrison heads of households:
Morrison, Gabl (Gabriel)
Morrison, Jno
Morrison, Jno
Morrison, Mary (Prob.m. to Stephen)
Morrison, Tarpley

I have not connected to any of these families yet. Are they all in the same family?
For the record my James Morrison lived in Rockbridge at one point and lived the rest of his life in Alleghany Co. Va.
He first married 28 April 1841 Mary Jane Haynes in Alleghany Co. VA
Their Children:
Frances Elmira Morrison
Juliet Granville Morrison
Susan Mildred Morrison m.James NICHOLS
William Henry Morrison

Alleghany County, Virginia 1850 Census:
23 281 282 Morrison James 33 M Farmer Virginia
Morrison Mary 35 F
Morrison Frances 8 F
Morrison Juliet 4 F
Morrison Susan 2 F
Morrison William 1 M

Mary dies 19 May 1855
James married Margarette Lawson (single) 12 Dec 1862 Alleghany Co. Va.

1880 Census
Covington, Alleghany County, Virginia 51/51
Morrison, James D. 62 Farmer
Margaret 55 Keeping House
Riddlebarger, Virginia B. 20 Servant
Morrison, Benjamin 63 Boarder/ Teaching School

It would be great if we can somehow connect our families. I kept wanting to believe his was connect to Stonewall Jackson wife also a Morrison in Rockbridge but no ties.
Thanks for any advice,
Stephanie
