Well, the only Savage town I could find via Google was in Accomack Co (reason I posted there), but absolutely no history of it, when formed, how named, etc. It would seem possible to me that there may have been an early place given the same name - later to be swallowed into another town. I saw a note on a "Savage Station."

Plus the testator of the Will who mentions land he purchased lived in Warwick Co., with lands in York & Isle of Wight Counties. Cannot imagine why he bought land in Accomack.

This is one of those mysteries that sends me off searching out of curiosity -- and will drive me crazy.

My next task will be to get some Accomack Co. Deed microfilms by interlibrary loan from Library of VA. - they might offer some nuggets of information.
