I highly doubt that was Gary Utter. The Gary we are referring too knew about this site a long time ago and was definitely well versed in genealogy. For those that do see this forum message - The email address or phone number supplied in that letter, Gary sent, no longer works.
As far as getting any additional help from the Gary Utter we are speaking of, the link to this article/forum thread might make matters worst: http://www.deanesmay.com/archives/006467.html talks about Gary Utter's death at age 58 in March 2004.
I have a line linking my genealogy to that of Nicholas Mattson Utter and I am in the process of proving that line to gain acceptance into several National genealogy clubs (SAR, DAR, etc.) If I can make that happen then some might be able to use those clubs as reference.
