I believe there was some sort of CT court record for Nicholasbefore he appeared in RI ... some Indian thing if I remem correct. Most Likely when New Swedenwas conquered by the Dutch those members of the colony who decided to stay stayed pretty much in the orig physical location (Christiana area) of the New Sweden colony I don't believe he ever went to (modern) NYC then New Amsterdam and in fact have found no recordof him there.
Also I believe that Nicholas Sr died considerably before 1722 most likely a confusion existing between the two Nicholases. Nicholas Jr fled to NJ ca 1714 leaving his children behind; in 1722 the court would have been able to find him legally dead in the absence of a body.
